About the festival
The Elias Parish Alvars Festival was established in 2008 by harpist Florence Sitruk. The festival celebrates the music and life of the harpist Elias Parish Alvars (1808-1849), the most prodigious harpist of the 19th century, and the musical traditions of the early romantic composers.
The annual festival is located in beautiful Teignmouth, Devon (Great Britain), the birthplace of Elias Parish Alvars. Each year features recitals by reknown guest artists, as well as chamber music and student recitals. Masterclasses are taught in the picturesque Bay Hotel, which has become a home to the festival.
The Elias Parish Alvars Festival is a harp and chamber music festival dedicated to the repertoire and tradition of the Early Romantic period. It includes lectures and discussions on the importance of the Early Romantic repertoire, which makes it a unique joining of musical ideas.
