Home Programme 2008 Artists & lecturers 08 1st International Harp Trophy for Young Talents Florence  Sitruk Gallery Press Links Sponsors Sitemap Contact	1^st epa International Harp Trophy It was a dream come true to welcome contestants, their parents, eminent musicians, and researchers from many different countries to open the Elias Parish Alvars Festival and the 1^st International EPA Trophy for Young Talents last February in Teignmouth/Devon, England. Together we celebrated with finest harp playing, lectures, and a historical concert program compiled by the grand maestro of our instrument, Elias Parish Alvars, who was born exactly 200 years ago in Teignmouth. Young contestants not older than 14 years competed for the 1st epa International Harp Trophy, and had gathered from the four corners of the world for an inspiring moment of music. The price winners are as follow: 1^st Prize (sponsored by Camac Harps) and re-invitations to future Festival up to the age of 18 (Prize Florence Sitruk) Giulia Ott, Switzerland 2^nd Prize (sponsored by Camac Harps) Benjamin Creighton Griffiths, Great Britain 3^rd Prize (sponsored by Camac Harps) Gerda Gabriel. Austria Prix "Jeune Espoir" (donated by John Wilson Smith) Laura Peh, Singapore	The jury of the 2008 competition was formed as follow: Elizabeth Jane Baldry (UK) Harpist, harp historian, silent movie harpist, filmmaker Ann Griffiths (UK) Harpist, harp historian, writer, composer, teacher and editor David Haines (UK)* Composer Florence Sitruk (D) International Concert Harpist. Professor of Harp in Geneva  and Vilnius President of the jury Dr. Ann Yeung (USA) Associate Professor of Harp at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Editor of the World Harp Congress Review * Replacement of Andres Izmaylov (RU), Solo harpist of the St-Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra
