Elias Parish Alvars Festival

It is in magnificent Teignmouth that Elias Parish was born and from where this young harp prodigy embarked to conquer the classical world of his time. He is to the harp what Paganini is to the violin, and many famous contemporary artists such as Mendelssohn or Berlioz came to value and perform his symphonic compositions. In 2008 the festival celebrated the bicentenary of his birth with a sparkling programme from the 24th-28th of February.

The 1st epa International Harp Trophy went to astonishing and brilliant young musician Giulia Ott, aged 14, Switzerland.

The rich diversity of programming transformed the festival into an event for all senses. The mornings became an early romantic thinking lab, educating and teaching about the world of Parish Alvars. The evenings transformed the festival into a sparkling concert hall with magical music moments, such as the unforgettable concert by Marielle Nordmann, grand lady of the harp.

It is a great pleasure to have received so much enthusiasm and support for the creation of this unique festival. Most important for a musician is the communication with the audience, and Teignmouth people supported us with warmth and friendship.

Thank you to all !

Stay with us for the next edition, programme to be announced soon.

Sincerely,

Florence Sitruk,

Artistic director
